Windows 11, version 26H2 Coming soon
Microsoft has officially confirmed Windows 11 version 26H2, an upcoming x86-64 annual update arriving in Fall 2026 as a fast enablement package. It shares a core platform with versions 24H2 and 25H2 while bringing user-requested interface tweaks and an extended support lifecycle
Update Delivery and Scope
- Enablement Package: Installs quickly via a single restart like a monthly cumulative update for users already on version 25H2 or 24H2.
- Processor Limitation: Exclusive to x86-64 Intel and AMD hardware; Arm-based and next-gen chip architectures operate on a separate update path.
- Support Timeline: Resets support to 24 months for Home/Pro editions and 36 months for Enterprise/Education
Key Interface and Feature Changes- Start Menu & Search: Features a faster Start Menu with easier customization and an upcoming toggle to remove Bing web search results natively.
- Taskbar Tweaks: Regains options to reposition the taskbar to the top or sides of the screen and shrink icon sizes.
- System Improvements: Bundles faster File Explorer load speeds, Bluetooth audio stability updates, and enhanced Windows Update pausing controls.
